What Painting Costs in Tavira in 2026

Average prices per room, per apartment or per facade, to help you plan. Your fixed price is agreed in writing after we visit the property, and smaller jobs can also be done by the hour. Materials are charged at cost, and most residential work is invoiced at 6% VAT, not 23%. Here is why.

Transparent painting prices in Tavira – fixed written quote agreed before work starts.

Average prices, November 2026

These are average prices for typical jobs. Every quote is made at the property, because salt damage, ceiling height and access all change the work. The visit has a travel charge, which is included in the price if you go ahead. Prefer to pay by the hour? We do that too, and the rules for hourly work are in the questions below.

Single Room

190 €

Up to 20m². Walls, ceiling, and woodwork. One colour, prep, and two topcoats. One painter, one day.

Full Apartment (1 or 2 Bed)

590 €

Living room, bedrooms, hallway and kitchen. Two painters, 1 to 2 days. Includes woodwork and ceilings.

Exterior Facade

890 €

Up to 40m² of facade, soffits, and woodwork. Includes prep, salt treatment, primer, and two topcoats.

Additional services (from prices):
Pergola or Gate: from 350 € | Full Decking: from 650 € | Terrace Waterproofing: from 35 €/m² | Single Crack Repair: from 140 €

These are indicative starting prices. Your fixed written quote comes after we have seen your property. Small repairs and odd jobs can also be booked by the hour, at a rate agreed before we start.

Why residential painting is taxed at 6% VAT (not 23%)

Under Portuguese VAT law (Verba 2.27 da Lista I do CIVA), conservation and renovation work on residential properties carried out under a fixed-price contract is taxed at the reduced rate of 6%, not the standard 23%.

The rule of thumb: if the materials we supply stay at 20% or less of the total job value, the entire invoice is charged at 6% VAT. Above that, labour stays at 6% and materials at 23%, shown separately on the invoice.

This applies to: first homes, second homes and holiday lets, meaning any residential property, as long as it’s not a commercial building. The invoice must state the justification, e.g., “Taxa reduzida ao abrigo da verba 2.27 da Lista I anexa ao CIVA”.

In practice, almost all our residential painting work qualifies for the reduced 6% rate. We provide clear, itemised invoices so you know exactly what you’re paying and why. It is one of the biggest savings available to you, and it is entirely legal.

Always confirm with your accountant or tax advisor for your specific situation. We don’t provide tax advice, but we apply the law correctly on every invoice.

Questions about pricing and what's included

The prices on this page are averages for the type and size of work described. Every property is different: a wall with heavy salt damage, a complex staircase or a very high ceiling can need more time and materials. That is why we visit before quoting. The fixed written price you agree after that visit is the price you pay.

Yes. As well as fixed-price jobs, we work by the hour, at an hourly labour rate we agree with you before we start. It suits small repairs, touch-ups, a list of odd jobs around the house, or work that is hard to measure in advance. Materials are still charged at cost with the receipt.

On hourly work, travel is not built into the price. If the property is far from Tavira centre, we add a daily travel charge for each day we are on site. We tell you the hourly rate and the travel charge before any work starts.

Every quote includes: wall preparation (filling, sanding), priming (where needed), two coats of premium paint, protection of furniture and floors, and a full clean-up at the end. For exteriors, it includes salt treatment, facade preparation, and appropriate primers. The quote clearly states what is and isn’t included.

Materials (paint, primers, fillers, masking tape, etc.) are charged at cost. We attach the receipt to the invoice so you see exactly what we paid. There is no markup on materials for standard jobs. For large material purchases, we agree a small handling fee in the quote.

On a fixed-price job, yes. We charge for travel to the visit and tell you the amount before we come. If you accept the quote, the travel is included in the job price. It only stands as a separate charge if you decide not to go ahead.

On hourly work it is different: when the property is far from Tavira centre, a daily travel charge is added for each day on site.

Send us photos of the rooms or exterior with rough dimensions, and we can give you a first estimate, usually the same day. The fixed written quote comes after a visit to the property, booked at a time that suits you.
